INSTALLATION - NEW LAWN
New Lawn Installation with Pearl’s Premium 🌱
Pearl’s Premium is the ultimate choice for a low-maintenance, environmentally friendly lawn. Whether you’re starting fresh or revitalizing your landscape, our deep-rooted, drought-resistant grass ensures a lush, green lawn with minimal upkeep.
Quick Start Guide for New Lawns
1️⃣ Prepare the Soil – Install 3" to 4" of high-quality, loosened topsoil (ideally mixed with organic compost). A minimum of 1-2 inches is acceptable but more is better.
2️⃣ Add Nutrients – Spread an organic fertilizer to support early growth.
3️⃣ Spread the Seed – Apply Pearl’s Premium lawn seed at the recommended concentration shown on the bag.
4️⃣ Watering Schedule – Water every morning for one month to establish deep roots.
5️⃣ Mowing – Once the lawn is established, cut to 3.5 inches high, always using a sharp mower blade for best results.
6️⃣ Over-seed – To maximize thickness and outcompete weeds, over-seed again in the spring or fall the following season.
Detailed Instructions for the Ultimate Green Lawn
1. Install a Healthy Topsoil Bed
- Install 3" to 4" of high-quality, loose topsoil. If ordering soil, ensure it is screened for debris and enriched with organic compost.
- Rake and smooth out the soil to prepare for seeding.
2. Enrich the Soil with Nutrients
- Spread a ¼-inch layer of organic compost (¾ cubic yard per 1,000 sq. ft.) to provide long-lasting nutrients.
- This will naturally fertilize the lawn for up to a year, promote healthy root development, and deter weeds and grubs.
3. Spread the Seed for a Thick Lawn
- Apply 10 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. for even coverage.
- Use a broadcast spreader, spreading in two directions at right angles to ensure uniform distribution.
- Gently rake the seed into the soil for better adhesion.
4. Consider Hydro-Seeding (For Sloped Lawns or Extreme Conditions)
- If your lawn has a significant slope or is being seeded during a late-season frost, extreme heat, or dry period, hydro-seeding may be beneficial.
- Ensure the hydro-seed mix includes a tackifier (a glue-like agent) to hold seeds in place until germination.
5. Roll the Seeds into the Soil (Optional, but Recommended for Slopes)
- If available, use a roller (filled no more than ¼ with water) to gently press seeds into the soil without compacting it.
- This helps improve soil-to-seed contact and prevents erosion.
6. Watering Schedule for a Strong Root System
✅ First 3 Weeks – Water every morning for 20 minutes (or longer in hot, dry conditions).
✅ For Well-Drained or Hot Areas – A second 20-minute watering at 2 PM may be necessary.
✅ Never Water After 5 PM – Evening watering can encourage fungal disease.
✅ After Sprouting (Week 4-6) – Reduce to watering every 2 days for 2 more weeks.
✅ Long-Term Watering Needs
- Fall Seeding – Stop watering after one month.
- Spring Seeding – Continue watering once a week during the first summer to support root development.
- After Establishment – Pearl’s Premium requires 75% less water than traditional grass.
7. Over-Seed Next Season for Maximum Lawn Health
- Cut the lawn with a sharp blade when dry, reducing height gradually (never cutting more than ⅓ of the grass height at a time).
- Rake away clippings and over-seed again at 8 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. to fill in any thin spots and further suppress weeds.
- Water for one month to establish newly added seed.
8. Enjoy Your Beautiful, Low-Maintenance, Organic Lawn!
With the right care, your Pearl’s Premium lawn will stay green year-round, requiring minimal watering and mowing while eliminating the need for chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
